Planning Summary

Planning Summary calculates overall initiative timelines based on planned due dates. In Wave, this is visualized by grouping, filtering or coloring by Planning Summary, which can indicate at a glance where initiatives stand, and is particularly useful in identifying those that are late or at risk of becoming late.

Planning summary is a calculated attribute with the following default values.

  • On plan = more than seven days from due date
  • Due soon = due date within the next seven days
  • Past due = at least one day past due date
  • Not planned = planned dates have not been entered

Please note that the thresholds used in your company's configuration of Wave to calculate what is late, due, or on plan may vary from these default values.

In the example below, initiatives are grouped by workstream and colored by planning summary. The red cards indicate initiatives that are past due for a key date, i.e., at least one day overdue, and the orange cards indicate initiatives that are due soon, i.e. in seven days or less.

Another way to look at the same information is illustrated below. Initiatives are grouped and colored by planning summary. The red cards indicate initiatives that are past due for a key date, i.e., at least one day overdue, and the orange cards indicate initiatives that are due soon, i.e. in seven days or less.
